New *NEW* Blog
Hello those of you who followed me from sarahinafrica to sarahinsanfrancisco (or those who just followed me here). I’ve been struggling with this blog recently, mostly as a result of my inability to switch my primary blog from sarahinafrica to this one. I’ve been unable to follow people with my new handle, and all my tumblr communication still goes through sarahinafrica. As I’ve decided I want to wrap up that blog and leave it as a memento of my trip rather than attempt to re-appropriate it, this has been causing some frustration in my ability to develop a new identity on Tumblr.
So, I created a new gmail account, and a new Tumblr account, and am ready to leave these two behind and start fresh. The new tumblr account has the same name as this one (sarahinsanfrancisco) and can be found here: www.sarahinsanfrancisco.tumblr.com. That one will be what this should have been, and I can make it what I actually want it to be with the new primary blog freedom. And, as this was a short-lived experiment, I will no longer be posting here.
I apologize for all this bouncing around.
Will this turkey make up for it?
I hope you’ll all follow me at the new and real sarahinsanfrancisco instead. Last change, I promise. Onwards and upwards!
I don’t even have a dog XD
…or you are remembering my bath photo. in which case i will nod graciously at you from a respectable distance.
The guys surveyed said they wanted a successful, career-oriented woman who earns a lot of money, but they also want their partner to stay at home and raise the kids. Ha ha, weird conundrum, right? Whew, good thing this is a paradox men are confronting. Not like we’d want to have to deal with it or anything.
A guy also prefers that a woman be ready to go out for the night in 10 minutes. (Naturally, considering she’ll be confident and attractive enough to leave the house without makeup, duh.) Additionally, a banging body AND a voracious appetite is also required, with 89 percent of guys saying they wanted their girls to enjoy hearty meals, while 75 percent wanted their women to stay slim, and 91 percent saying they wanted a girlfriend with a high sex drive.”
-What Men (Really) Want In A Woman Will Blow Your Mind
Wait a second — you mean people’s fantasies are implausible and often contradictory?
Way to steal the thunder from my own social-science tome I was about to release called “People think of weird things.” I asked a bunch of people questions like “would you rather eat one of those tribbles from Star Trek or fight the legendary pirate Blackbeard?” and then extrapolated from their answers. My conclusion was that people spend a bizarre amount of time imagining unwieldy and impossible scenarios.
My favorite part was definitely the last paragraph not quoted in this post: “So, men want a superwoman who has time to eat a giant plate of ribs, work out, not blow-dry her hair, and maintain a successful career while raising his babies and doing him constantly”
That’s totally reasonable, right?
Wondering if it will really happen.
I won’t follow/unfollow any Tumblr from tomorrow though.
More info here: “4chan Users Declare War on Tumblr”
Some people say it’s a diversion, others say the original person behind this poster/plan is very serious, some say there’s no traction behind it… basically, like anything on the internet, it is what it is (which may end up being nothing). C’est la vie.
But maybe, since it’s a good idea regardless of what /b/ might be planning, you should take the time to back-up your Tumblr if you really care about what you’ve posted and reblogged.
Backing up anyway… Man, how I wish LiveJournal had a backup utility back in the day.
Seriously /b/? While I loathe 4chan on many levels, I’ve seen Anonymous do some pretty hilarious, and occasionally even powerful things. While I avoid the forum, I feel on some level Anonymous provides a crucial voice and an incredible venue for “normal people” to make themselves heard, albeit in a very base and immature way (which is worth examining in its own right).
So why are they wasting their time with Tumblr? And apparently now Tumblr users want to fight back? I’m just missing the point in all of this; it screams circlejerk on both sides. I mean, maybe that’s just what comes with a body of people who “fight the mainstream” using goatse and dick jokes. But honestly, I feel like they could do so much more.
“Cuddle Mob” in Dolores Park, SF
“Pop a breath mint, bring people you wanna snuggle, and get ready for the cuddle of a lifetime at Dolores Park at 1pm on Saturday, November 13th. Show off your cuddling skills and help us assemble the biggest group hug ever in support of locally endangered Steller Sea Lions and take a simple pledge to share our ocean resources.”
I’m not sure, would anything like this ever happen outside of San Francisco? Either way the concept is awfully adorable. Deciding whether or not I should drop by.
